= 1000 kilos (sea freight only) Internal container dimensions in metres: Length / Width / Height 20’ -
L 5.89 x W 2.33 x H 2.38 mtr
Total - 33.2 m3 40’ - L 12.01 x W 2.33 x H 2.38 mtr Total -
67.7 m3 Loading Time: The normal allowance to load/unload a container is 3 hours. It
should be noted that a containers internal capacity is based on a
corner-to-corner measurement, therefore when calculating the amount of
shipping space required you might find that the quoted requirement is
greater than the m3 of goods. For example: goods amounting to 16.0 m3
are likely to take up more that half of a 20’ container. This is because you are unlikely to fill to the full height of the container and therefore take up more floor area.
This may apply more so to those self-packing and loading. In some cases, with the amounts involved, it can become more cost effective to ship FCL rather than LCL /
Groupage.
